Using BIOS in ChatGPT and Codex
The BIOS app for ChatGPT and Codex lets you work with your BIOS company from a chat. It can:
- show your revenue, orders, average order and Meta ad spend from your store;
- show what your BIOS team is waiting for your yes on;
- answer plain questions about your numbers (owners and managers only);
- ask your BIOS team to start work (owners and managers only).
It cannot approve, send, publish, spend or change anything in your store. Your team plans the work in BIOS, using the AI subscriptions connected there, and any send, publish or spend it proposes waits for your yes in the BIOS app. If BIOS cannot read a number from your store, it says unavailable instead of guessing.
Connect BIOS to ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps (or Plugins) and choose BIOS.
- Sign in with your BIOS email and password. If you signed up with Apple and have no password, sign out of the BIOS app, choose Forgot password? on the sign-in screen, and set one from the emailed link.
- Check that the page says you will return to chatgpt.com, then choose Allow.
An owner of your company must have agreed to AI data sharing in the BIOS app (the Before BIOS works for you screen) before any AI app can connect. Once agreed, it shows under Settings → Account → AI data sharing.
Connect BIOS to Claude, Gemini or Grok
Use the same server address in each app: https://api.usebios.com/mcp. Each app opens the BIOS sign-in page; sign in, check where it says you will return, and choose Allow.
- Claude: Customize → Connectors → Add → Add custom connector, enter the address, then Connect.
- Gemini: Settings & help → Connected Apps → Add a custom app, enter the address. Google offers custom apps to some personal accounts only.
- Grok: grok.com/connectors → New Connector → Custom, enter the address.
Disconnect BIOS from an AI app
- In the app: remove or disconnect BIOS where you added it (in ChatGPT, Settings → Apps or Plugins). If the app tells BIOS, the connection ends at once; if it does not, the connection stops working once it has gone unused for 30 days.
- For the whole company: in BIOS, Settings → Account → AI data sharing → Withdraw. Once no owner is sharing, every AI app connection in the company ends at once. This also stops your BIOS team's AI work: queued requests are cancelled, and new ones are refused until an owner agrees to sharing again.
- Automatically: a connection also ends when you are removed from the company, your password is reset, or your account is deleted.
Common questions
Every number says unavailable
BIOS has not read your store yet, or the store did not answer. Connect Shopify (and Meta for ad spend) in the BIOS app under Settings → Connections. BIOS will not fill in a number it cannot prove.
ChatGPT says my role does not allow something
Viewers can read numbers and approvals. Asking questions and asking the team for work need a Manager or Owner. An owner can change roles in Settings → Company members.
ChatGPT asks me to reconnect
Your connection ended: you were removed from the company, your password was reset, AI data sharing was withdrawn, or the connection went unused for 30 days. Connect again from ChatGPT's Settings → Apps.
